# 新西兰和澳洲英语中的俚语 arvo 是什么？

新西兰人和澳洲人说英语的时候，嘴巴都很“懒”，能简短的说就简短的说，能不发音就不发音，这也就是为什么新西兰和澳洲的英语有点怪口音不说，还充斥着大量的俚语让人搞不懂的原因。

比如说，你的同事给你写了一封邮件，告诉你 I will be taking an off this arvo，或者嘴上说了一句 What are the plans this arvo? 类似的话，会不会看的你、听的你一头雾水？

其实这个 arvo 就是 afternoon 的意思，afternoon 如果完全发音要出来五个音节，澳新地区的懒人们怎么舍得耽误这么长的时间在一个单词上？于是，arvo这个神词就出现了。更有甚者，连 arvo 都觉得长，就改成了 avo，可谓“懒到极点”的代表了。
