# 英语中的 Plaster Saint 是什么意思？

石膏圣人，你有听过这个英语的说法吗？Plaster Saint，看字面的意思，难道指的是工厂中加工出来的，各种先知、神明、圣人、上帝、天子、太上老君、玉皇大帝等等的石膏模具塑像吗？

当然不是了。

这是一个骂人不吐脏字的用法而已，谁是“石膏圣人”，谁就是个伪君子。

圣人之所以是圣人，通常是因为他们被认为创造了奇迹。石膏圣人则什么事情也做不了，没有自己的力量，只是坐在教堂的壁龛里，盯着你看，或者被你看，仅此而已。

如果一个人，以虚伪的方式，向其他人展现得没有道德缺陷或人性弱点，他就是个石膏圣人。实际上，他背地里，可能完全不是表面上那种样子。

用英语来解释英语本身，Plaster saint = hypocrite（伪君子）。

另外，这个词用作形容男性，不用于形容女性。
